Our original pickup pad was introduced to the bike world in 2005, and we’ve been steadily refining it for almost 20 years. Though the problem of transporting bikes to trailheads without damage has long been solved, we’ve strived to update our pickup pads in tandem with the evolution of trucks. Now, we’re introducing our Universal Pickup Pad, designed to fit all of today’s pickup tailgates, regardless of whether they’re deep, curved, or larger than standard truck models. Boasting improved protection, elevated features, and a modern, clean aesthetic, this padded tailgate protector is made of a rugged, recycled 900D polyester with UV coating and features EVA foam panels (which borrow from our surf traction designs, highlighting our roots in surfing) for convenient spacing of bike frames. Each panel has its own adjustable bike-anchor strap, and the pad attaches to the tailgate via four cinch straps with spring-loaded cam locks. A handy removable cover for tailgate handles and rear-view cameras now has its own storage pocket, and the hook closure now doubles as a convenient bottle opener. The pad itself is cable-lock compatible, while the screen-printed logo is reflective for enhanced nighttime visibility. What’s more, the Universal Pickup Pad is compatible with truck shells and tonneau covers, both of which can be locked while the tailgate pad is still attached.
